Be Aware of Increasing Text Message Scams

Cell PhoneThe Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has reported an increase in scammers trying to steal personal and financial information via texting. When received, these texts look to be from a consumer’s financial institution.

Now is a good time to remind your members of the dangers of sharing personal and financial information, and share how your credit union will contact them in the event that information needs to be confirmed. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has a helpful guide on how to spot text message scams here
